Beauty

What is beauty?

Is it a look, or is it a thought?
A dream, or a reality?
Skin deep, or is it in the soul?

Is beauty something we see,
Something we know,
Something we hear?

Is it a baby's joyful laugh?
Or is it a smile on a weathered face,
Wrinkled as it may be?

Is it love? Fear?
A memory of days gone by?
A promise of things to be?

Is it constant?
Ageless, enduring?
Or is it merely a moment in time?

Is it a sleeping kitten?
Is it a playing pup?
Is it a creature wizened over the years,
Greying at it's muzzle?

Is it a face freckled and tanned in the sun,
Or is it a face that has stayed ivory
With sunscreen and care?

Is beauty green-eyed?
Blue, brown?
Grey?
Hazel?

Does beauty have a voice,
Sweet as angels singing on high?
Or harsh and raspy from use?
Does it even speak, or does it stay mute?

Is beauty something that can be captured?
Is it a personal thought?
Is anything beautiful to everyone,
Or is everyone beautiful to something?

What is beauty?

Is it a laugh?
A good, solid cry?
Is it caring for someone sick,
Or is it the love of something growing?

Is it a flower only?
Is it age or youth?
Is it granted to only a rare few,
Or is it in the eye of the beholder?

Is beauty truth?
Is it dance? Movement?
A song of the heart?

What makes a person beautiful?
Is it looks?
Personality?
Humor?

Is it physical?
Is it intellectual?
Neither, or both?

What is beauty?
