As Time Goes By - Frank Sinatra

GOOD NEWS! Gus is doing MUCH better today, after I spent all evening and night last night getting him to drink his vitamins, and then got up every couple of hours during the night to check on him and coax him into taking more meds for me. He's not 100% yet, but his eyes are open and bright again, his fur isn't all mussed up, he's walking mostly normal, and is eating again.

YAYYYY! Yay yay yay! My buddy is going to be okay!

Yay!

Now, for something I rarely do: post one of these suckers as I have below. I did it for kicks, and ended up finding some very amusing answers. Some of which I may not live down, even. >.< Anyways, I didn't cheat, which I am beginning to wish I had...

~*~*~*~*~*~

I can’t believe I’m doing this… but I am. And some of them either make no sense or are completely ridiculous. Oftentimes both. I’ll post snippets of the song (or perhaps whole sets of lyrics, depending) at the end of the post, after the questions have been all answered.

RULES
1. Put your music player (iTunes, Windows Media Player, etc.) on SHUFFLE.

2. For each question, press the NEXT button to get your answer.

3. YOU MUST WRITE THAT SONG NAME DOWN NO MATTER HOW SILLY IT SOUNDS.

4. Put any comments in brackets after the song name.

5. Post it.

(PS - I am now tagging everyone who reads this. :P Feel free to just reply via comments or your blog. I'm nosy and want to see what everyone else came up with!)

The boys of Liverpool,
When we safely landed, Called meself a fool;

My shillelagh fly; Some Galway boys were by,
Saw I was a hobblin', Then with a loud hurray!,
They joined in the affray. Soon we quickly cleared the way,
For the rocky road to Dublin.

5. Rhythm of the Night
When it feels like
the world is on your shoulders
and all of the madness
has got you goin crazy

6. All Right Now
There she stood in the street
Smiling from her head to her feet
I said "Hey, what is this"
Now baby, maybe she's in need of a kiss
I said " Hey, what's your name baby"
maybe we can see things the same
Now don't you wait or hesitate
Let's move before they raise the parking rent

7. Hogwart’s March [instrumental]

8. I’m Gonna Miss Her

Well I'm gonna miss her
When I get home
But right now I'm on this lakeshore

I'm sure it'll hit me
When I walk through that door tonight
That I'm gonna miss her
Oh, lookie there, I've got a bite

You can ponder perpetual motion,
Fix your mind on a crystal day,
Always time for a good conversation,
There's an ear for what you say.

When the gales of November come early.

13. Was That My Life
I don't want to be the one who's old before their time,
And lose the wonder that I felt as a child.

There's still so much to see, and so much left to do.
Yes, I'll fall before I fly,
But no one can say I never tried.

16. In The Year 2525
Now it's been 10,000 years

Now man's reign is through
But through the eternal night
The twinkling of starlight
So very far away
Maybe it's only yesterday

17. Dixie Land Delight
Rollin down a backwoods
Tennessee byway,
One arm on the wheel,
Holdin’ my lover
With the other
A sweet, soft, southern thrill.
Worked hard all week;
Got a little jingle
On a Tennessee Saturday night.
Couldn’t feel better
I’m together
With my Dixieland Delight.

18. Bohemian Rhapsody
Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide-
No escape from reality.
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see-
I’m just a poor boy, I need no sympathy-
Because I’m easy come, easy go,
A little high, little low,
Anyway the wind blows, doesn’t really matter to me,
To me…

19. Dueling Banjos [instrumental]

20. There Goes My Life
He smiles.....
There goes my life.
There goes my future, my everything.
I love you, daddy good-night.
There goes my life.

21. Time Goes By
It’s still the same old story
A fight for love and glory
A case of do or die
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by

22. We Danced
And we danced
Out there on that empty hardwood floor
The chairs up and the lights turned way down low
The music played, we held each other close
And we danced

News

Right now I'm blogging because I just need a place to vent. Right now I'm terrified for Gus, and hopefully next time I post it isn't because I lost one of my boys. Yesterday he was drinking a bit more than usual, but just as grabby when it came to food. Today, mom came to me and mentioned that he was refusing to eat. He's oddly gained weight / mass, his fur is rumpled, he's lethargic, thirsty, heavier breathing than is normal, and no appetite. If he stands up he's wobbly, and sometimes falls over. When he's marking, instead of a nice long rub against something, he falls to the side as if he lost his balance. He's been asleep more than is usual, and won't chew his favorite cardboard toys. He just stays curled up in a little gerbil-ball under the bedding and is very sensitive to touch or movement.

We've tried to bribe him with all of his favorite foods - dried apple, dried papaya, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds... popcorn. He won't even take popcorn. This is the gerbil that doesn't care if it's health food - if it's edible, he'll eat it. If it's not edible... sometimes I think he'd still eat it. He loves his food. He's like Khan. So to have him turn away food is a huge indication that he's sick, as is simply the fact he shows it. Most pocket pets are very adept at hiding illnesses until they're life-threatening, because if they didn't in the wild, they'd be dead. So the fact he even appears sick is a huge indicator on how horrible he must feel.

I ran to the petstore this evening and bought some vitamins to put in the water. I put some in the water bottle, but I've also been having him drink from a dropper so that I know he's getting them - and it has a few more vitamins in it than I put in the water that the other two are drinking from. When I tried to separate him from the other two, he flipped out, and when I put him back in the others realized what I'd done and rushed to the tank and were clinging to it until I took Gus out and put him back in the tank. Then when I tried to pick him up again to check him a time later, George bit my elbow and hung on and Wes got in front of Gus and wouldn't let me pick him up. Only when I stopped trying to pick the poor boy up did Wes and George let me go. That also worries me - normally they wouldn't be that possessive.

So right now I'm trying to get bits of food down him and water and vitamins, doing anything and everything I can think of to make him better. I feel so useless - I can't even help my boy. He's so damn pitiful, it breaks my heart. And I also learned tonight how, when something really matters to you, price doesn't matter sometimes. I just got a $10 bottle of vitamin solution for the poor guy - something that could cost maybe $2 for a lot more if it were for a human.

I'd say that I know you don't really get it, but that's just it - everyone who reads this blog is either just as deeply attached to animals as I am and know exactly how I feel, therefore not having to explain the pain in my chest at seeing the poor boy so miserable and, most likely, dying, with me powerless to do anything. Or, you already know how deeply I am attached to my animals, particularly these boys that have been some of the best pets I've ever had, and you know I'd do almost anything for them. As it stands, depending on how he's doign tomorrow I might take him to the vet. I'm just not sure how prohibitive the price will be. But if I can afford it, I'm going to try and make him better. He's just over a year old - that's too young to give up without a fight.

I'm hoping that perhaps it's nothing more than, perhaps, bad constipation. It could happen. With as much as he eats, it could happen. But it's unlikely. We've been keeping him on a diet, so that's very unlikely. Could be a bad batch of food - but the other two are fine (so it seems).

So, as strange as it probably sounds to most people, keep him in your thoughts. I want him to get better. He's one of my babies and one of my friends, and I'm terrified to lose him.
