Happy Thanksgiving!

Over the teeth and past the gums,
Watch out stomach, here it comes!

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all!

PS. What is it about holidays that make parents snippy?

For Good Entertainment

If you enjoy good entertainment, please visit Steph's blog. It shows you the extent of our late night intelligence. And is just a hilarious read if you realize it's me and her talking.

Rawrg.

Yes. Rawrg.

So, it may be a trick, but now that I'm at home, guess what. My wired internet is back. Now, it's said that at Miami too. But then it disappears. This... has been stable for several hours. Rawrg. I want stable internet at Miami, too!

I have a crapload to do. Primarily, application crap. I hate applications. I hated them in high school, and I hate them even more now, esp. when my grades are worse than they were in HS. And so are my scores. I get stupider the more schooling I have, I swear. But I'm pretty freaked out by this whole ordeal. And don't anyone tell me 'of course you'll get in somewhere'. I'm tired of hearing it. I want to gripe and complain. And no, 'of course' is not an 'of course'. Grad school is not equal to under grad school. No, my grades and scores are not bad. But neither are they good. IN COMPARISON to what grad schools desire, are looking for, and can get. I am really just hoping SOMEONE of value will both take me and pay for me to work for them.

I wish someone had told me in high school to go to a easy school, like UC, for undergrad. Then I would have gotten A's, had time to do nothing while half my class sat in jail, and I'd be like a golden child for these schools. But no, I go to Miami. Where stuff is stupidly hard. For no good reason. Like multiple guess and random identifications on history exams. WHY would you do that for a history class? You WRITE in history. You don't do particulars. You do connections and themes and analyzing crap. You don't write about random dude on page 468 of book XLDSR for a page on an in class exam. Seriously. That ain't history, y'all. That just plain stupid, hear me?

Yeah. So. Sleep now. Home for 'break'. Let's see if I get one.

Internet problems

So, my internet is on the fritz. As, apparently, am I. Maybe I can check myself into Dell and they can do a full update on my brain. I think it needs to be jumpstarted. Maybe I should take it to the auto dealer instead. Get some cables, hook it up, and go.

I'm most definately ready for this semester to be over. I've .... no, I won't go into it right now. It's 1 am. Maybe I'll go into it all at a later date.

Suffice it to say things aren't great.

101 posts!

Lol.

Anyways, brief update. Swamped as usual. Grad applications due very soon. Very stressed about that. Esp since the Duke deadline I thought was Dec 15... it's Nov 15. I feel really bad I did that to my professors.

I have 14 different personal statements to write - each university wants a different statement with a different purpose.

I have a rough draft for my senior capstone paper due (theoretically) Wednesday, as well as a presentation on the information.

I have a paper due for Classics on Thursday, and this guy hates the way I write anyways.

And more applications are due.

Thank you.

Grim Grinning Ghosts

When the crypt goes creak,
And the tombstones quake.
Spooks come out for a swinging wake.
Happy haunts materialize,
And begin to vocalize.
Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize.

Now don't close your eyes,
And don't try to hide.
Or a silly spook may sit by your side.
Shrouded in a daft disguise,
They pretend to terrorize.
Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize.

As the moon climbs high o'er the dead oak tree,
Spooks arrive for the midnight spree.
Creepy creeps with eerie eyes,
Start to shriek and harmonize.
Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize.

When you hear the knell of a requiem bell,
Weird glows gleam where spirits dwell.
Restless bones etherialize,
Rise as spooks of every size.

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!

Ghosts
By Dan Fogelberg

Sometimes, in the night I feel it
Near as my next breath
And yet, untouchable
Silently the past comes stealing
Like the taste of some forbidden sweet

Along the walls; in shadowed rafters
Moving like a thought through haunted atmospheres
Muted cries and echoed laughter
Banished dreams that never sank in sleep

Lost in love and found in reason
Questions that the mind can find no answers for
Ghostly eyes conspire treason
As they gather just outside the door ...

Every ghost that calls upon us
Brings another measure in the mystery
Death is there
To keep us honest
And constantly remind us we are free

Down the ancient corridors
And through the gates of time
Run the ghosts of days
That we left behind

Down the ancient corridors
And through the gates of time
Run the ghosts of dreams
That we left behind

Sometimes, in the night I feel it
Near as my next breath and yet, untouchable
Silently the past comes stealing
Like the taste of some forbidden sweet

Every ghost that calls upon us
Brings another measure in the mystery
Death is there
To keep us honest
And constantly remind us we are free

Down the ancient corridors
And through the gates of time
Run the ghosts of days
That we left behind

So, it's been a while...

I apologize to all you loyal (haha) readers. I think that's called, mm... Steph? ;) Anyways. Very brief update.

Last week (Oct 14-20):

* Had a heck of a time scheduling on Monday. Took me all day to sort it out. I think I'm golden now.

* Monday: As soon as that's done, I get a call saying dad went to the ER. Long story short: he had a (MILD, thankfully) heart attack. So Monday night I went home to take care of the animals and grandparents, who got in around 12:30 Tuesday morning (Course, I didn't get home till 11 or so Monday night). Very stressful. He's very good now. Everyone's happy.

* Got really irritated at a professor when he marked down my paper because he didn't like my writing style.

* Took a midterm on Thursday. It was one of the classes I didn't go to on Tuesday. Mrrf.

* Friday: Went home to see everyone.

THIS week: OCT 21-27:

* Been working on a midterm from the guy who doesn't like the way I write. What little incentive I have.

* Got to see Noah.

* Took pretty pictures of Miami when it was foggy and pretty.

* FINALLY got heat in the dorm. Now that I don't need it.

* Went to a Toga party last night... a Gods and Goddesses party for Classics Club. I was Artemis. ^_^ Oh yeah. Tons of alcohol there - needless to say I refused to touch any of it. I actually took my own soft drinks to the thing. I'm still happy I did. And I was happy I didn't drink. I was also happy no one held it against me that I prefered to be sober.

* Have thoroughly enjoyed sleeping today. Also went to WalMart with Jordan, to pick up supplies for my informal presentation of my pirates project from summer. It definately won't be as cool as that in Upham. But I'm gonna dress up as a pirate for it, instead of dressing casual like they wanted us to. I wanna be different. :-D

Below are pictures of the beautiful Miami, and the toga party. In brief. If you want more, you need to contact me.
