The Laughing Fox

Live in a world of suspended amazement...

Mmmm! What a night!

Mmmm... tonight was awesome! Went to pistol club, shot at targets for a while. FINALLY figured out how to get the gun to work. >.< And no, I wasn't stupid enough to point it at my head while trying to figure it out. And yeah, I've been asked that already. :-P Met some guys there that I met first time I went (It's been difficult getting to shoot this semester), and they were just so cool. We talked during Club, then walked out together. I was simply enjoying having intelligent and interesting conversation. (A rarity here.) They invited me to join their bible study session for the day, and after a moment's hesitation - I mean come on, these guys were hilarious! - I agreed. They were making a skit for tomorrow night, and then discussed the Bible some. Then we went upstairs and watched BBC's Robin Hood, the entire time comparing it to Star Wars, SG-1, and LOTR. Man these people were cool! THen we had discussions about Eragon and Hitchhiker's and more movies and yeah. Really cool. Just got home.... five hours after I left this afternoon. So amazing. I've not laughed that hard in so long....

*can't help but giggle and act like a little kid*

Yes. Giggle. A lot. It was just that awesome.

Other Updates

Campus was filled with police today. -shiver- It was kinda weird... I'm not used to noticing them. But I saw two pairs of cops walking around, and everywhere I looked there was a police car/SUV in sight. I think just walking from Millett to Upham I came across four different police vehicles and two sets of cops. (For non-Miami peeps, that's about a 10 minute walk... down a street and across a two lane state highway. Two roads doesn't usually account for many cop cars.) It was surreal. Usually the cops don't have many visible weapons on them. Today... -shiver- They had guns today. Mace, guns, batons, whole shebang. I mean that much just doesn't really happen around sleepy Oxford. So yeah... just kinda surreal. We'll see if there's that much around tomorrow morning when I go back to Upham.

Other news. Early Saturday morning a 19 year old Miami girl was found dead on the train tracks around 3:30am, after a train had unknowingly hit her at 1:45 that morning. Didn't even know. Second train that comes through is the one that noticed her. She was drunk as hell. Blood alcohol level was .299. Seriously now. I know it's not nice to speak ill of the dead, but seriously now. That's just stupid. Kinda like having a memorial to kids who died in a house fire that THEY STARTED and were too drunk to notice, and tampered with all safty precautions. I'm sorry she's dead, but that's what you get for being irresponsible. Those trains blow their whistles quite loud - I can hear them with my windows closed, fan on, over a mile away. It's horrible she's dead - she sounds like she was a really cool girl. But add this to my mile-long list of reasons why more than one drink is a really really bad idea. And that even one is questionable if you're not home with people you're safe with. I know I don't trust many people here to help me if I were drunk - school's not a good place for that stuff. I think Mike and Jordan are the only two people I trust to you know, get me home in one piece if I were ever stupid enough to get drunk. (Ha, right. I still have a bottle of mead in my fridge I need to finish. I've had it all semester. Hrm.)

I'm thinking I can get Jordan to do some more RPing with me and finish a story we started. I started reading old ones of mine and Nic's - damn they were good. I'm sure they still could be, but she'd have to respond to me first... >.< And that looks like that'll never happen again... -groans and holds head- We still have one that was just getting good and started... I wish she wasn't so mad at me, and just civilly talk things out. Somewhere ... we got wires crossed. But it's kinda hard to uncross them from one side. Nicky, if you DO ever read this, please, just talk to me one day. Please. I'm begging you. I can't ever get ahold of you, so please. One day. Please just talk to me. I want to work things out. I miss talking to you and telling you some really cool things that I know would make you laugh, or things that only you'd get cuz you just know me that well. Please Nicky.

Other, hopefully happier news. Friday night I'm going to Colonel Stohry's house for dinner with a few other people. Smart casual - my new black pants sure have come in handy! I'm really excited. Col. Stohry's so cool. And the guys that'll be there are too. So I'll pack before I go there, then drive home afterwards. The Smiths are coming in for the weekend, so who knows if they'll get home before or after me. I haven't seen them in a year or so, at least. I'm always gone when they're here, and I don't go to Indy much anymore, so don't see them there. I'm reffing Saturday at Kings @ 10am. Quite excited. Okay not really, but it's money. I also have a paper due Friday, as well as the chore of getting all my decorations down.... yeeeah you know how much time that is for me? Took forever getting those blasted things ON the walls....

Okay, I need sleep. Good night, sweet dreams, peace out.

Ahhh Spring!

So excited. Only one more paper to go, then a take home final, a final before finals, and one final during finals week. ^_^ I have AF classes next semester, so I can continue to hanging out with some of the coolest people I know.

Today NROTC had their summer whites on. *purr* Oh, I DO love a man in uniform! I like the black dress uniforms better, however.

Funny story. There were presentations today in class. THey're supposed to wear white shorts so you can't you know, see their underwear under the white summer-weight pants. So one of the three presenters, today, had on red and white striped boxers under their uniform. >.< It was kinda hard to take his presentation seriously - the guys around me and I couldn't help but snicker the entire time. Seriously, red and white stripes? -shakes head- It was awesome. Then one of the girls' cell phones kept going off, making it even more amusing. She was sitting right next to the XO (Commander Rein). Hilarious. One of the presenters just stopped, and very father-like, "Would you like me to stop my presentation so you may answer your phone?" She turned soooo red. It's been a great day so far.

VT. I'm glad I didn't decide to go there... -shudder- Last year, snipers. This year, 33 dead. Glad I listened to my gut instinct NOT TO GO TO VT. So scary...

A sad, rainy day...

Today was rainy and cold. A perfect day for a funeral, wouldn't you agree?

My parents and I went to KY for the funeral of one of dad's friends' son. He was killed in Iraq with two other men on Good Friday. Although it may sound morbid, the military funeral was very interesting. It's also damn difficult not to cry when you see even military men crying. His CO (Commander) gave a speech - it was a true tear-jerker. This CO loved the man - he really was hurting that he was killed. I never thought I'd see a grown officer cry like that... he could barely speak. Then I looked over and all the other Sailors were sobbing into handkerchiefs. I did okay during the service, but then we went to the funeral. I did okay through the prayers, but once they played Taps, did a 21 gun salute, and folded the flag... -shudder- I was a goner. Not a dry eye anywhere. But it was.. amazing. THe precision of folding the flags, the 21 gun salute, the saluting the flags and coffin, the passing of the flag from officer, to enlisted, to officer (they did a slow salute every time), and the poor CO was still sobbing. All the Sailors were just a mess, but the CO was the worst.

His wife did a good job until the very end. His older sister was a wreck. His dad was pretty composed, and his mom was worse than his sister. And his little boy... his little boy was so cute. I don't think he quite realized that daddy was gone, though. He'd been deployed to Iraq three times already, his son was probably used to him being gone. Poor child.

Day is done,
gone the sun,
From the hills,
from the lake,
From the skies.
All is well,
safely rest,
God is nigh.

Go to sleep,
peaceful sleep.
May the soldier
or sailor,
God keep.
On the land
or the deep,
Safe in sleep.

Love, good night,
Must thou go,
When the day,
And the night
Need thee so?
All is well.
Speedeth all
To their rest.

Fades the light;
And afar
Goeth day,
And the stars
Shineth bright,
Fare thee well;
Day has gone,
Night is on.

Thanks and praise,
For our days,
'Neath the sun,
'Neath the stars,
'Neath the sky,
As we go,
This we know,
God is nigh.

Outrage

I hate internet outrages. Just fyi. Internet was down all day. >.<

I got a 96 on my capstone paper!!!!!!! :-D If you want to read it (it's 21 pages) let me know. I'd put it on here, but 21 pages... -shudder- ... you guys would never return!

Also updated my other blog with ideas.

And I'm dizzy so I'm done typing. Ta!

Ah rain....

It's been raining all day. Been nice.

I don't have my history class tomorrow, which is cool. Went to WPAFB yesterday, and it was pretty cool. Got to see the base housing, which was interesting. And the officer's club had some really good food.

Also got a shirt. It amused me.

My capstone paper is almost done. Just getting the finishing touches put on it. Hoping to send it out to Col. Stohry later this evening.

Got to shoot tonight, was quite a bit of fun. Not many people came, due to the fact it was storming.

Mom currently has no power.

Really missing roleplaying. So many thoughts and ideas and banners and photoshop. >.< Perhaps I'll work on writing stories. I'm getting frustrated with having no outlets, soo yeah. Jordan and I started a fun story... hmm...

That's that.

Avast! Part 2

For those interested few:

I have made another blog. No, I am not getting rid of this one. Instead, the other blog is for my summer scholars program. It's something I'm going to try during the summer, keep my mind focused and the like. I welcome all scholarly comments, but if you have some wise remark, post it here instead. I'll probably end up giving the link to my professor so he can keep tabs on my work as well, and I don't need you guys throwing random stuff out in it. :-P So I welcome comments on it, although it won't get in full swing till school's out (or it might, depends on how excited I am and the like... and if I have ideas I want to write down...). I'll ahve comment moderation up, so don't freak out if your comments don't automatically show up.

I'm excited!!

Avast!

Kinda in a piratey mood. Always fun.

My last presentation was done today. Yay! Now, to work on my capstone and the like for next week.

Tomorrow get to go to the health center at 9 to get blood work results (haha, maybe). Then two classes. Trying to decide if I want to go home or not. It'd be nice to have hot water in my shower...

It snowed today. Vaugely. But definately snowflakes.

Wright-Patterson on Tuesday. Get to get up at 4:45 to leave at 5:20am. Gone for the day! Booyah.

My head hurts.

I get to go to dinner with Molly and Amber here in a few minutes.

Toodles!

Behold! The Health Clinic at Lunch!

Very quiet in the health center during lunch hours. Been here since 11:30, waiting another hour before I get MORE blood drawn. Doing glucose testing (again) so I've been fasting since last night and tested every half hour while here. I'm ready for some food... and sleep. Sleep is also good. Also did scheduling this morning. Got some nice classes I think.

Classes next semester:

Aerospace Studies 221 - The Development Of Air Power - Thursday 10-11a

Aerospace Studies 331 - Aerospace Leadership & Management - Tuesday/Thursday 11a-12:15p

Classics 210E - Attics of Antiquity (ie, Rome, Troy, etc) - Tuesday/Thursday 3:30-4:45p

Might drop a class still, not sure.

And I'm tired of the health center. Just so you know.

Quick Points

- Working with four 'men' (I'm not sure they warrant the word, personally, but they're all over 18) really sucks when they're slackers and idiots. Especially when they don't let you in on their meetings but expect you to pull your share of the work. Let's hope they don't cancel THIS meeting on me as well, so I can at least figure out where I fit into the stupid prsentation.

- The new POTC trailer clip is SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!

- Read above.

- Nice and breezy out today.

- Went to walmart, had to circle Miami several times before I found a parking spot. Stole it from someone who had just passed it up. I feel no guilt, esp. since all they did was drop a few people off. Any guilt felt was then gone.

- Got several fruits and veggies to snack on, so maybe I can stay healthy.

- Trying to figure out just WHAT I want to take next semester. It's never been so hard! Either Social Dance and Skating (eeeeeeeasy) or AF classes (guaranteed As). -whine- Too many choices. All at the same time. -pout-

- Need to write a 8-10 pg paper due tomorrow.

- Need to finish Kent State presentation for Tuesday.

- Ta!
